Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Shilo Harris. I reached out to Shilo after coming across his story on Youtube. I was so touched to watch what he had been through that I wanted to share with my following. Jamie Harris (Shilo’s wife) got back in touch with me, and we arranged the meetup on Zoom. The interview is below. The video is quite long. In the first 15 minutes, Shilo talks about his background and why he joined the military. Shilo then talks about the day of the explosion and at the end gives a pep talk for those who may be going through some difficult times right now, and let’s face it, many people are.
On February 19, 2007, during his second deployment to Iraq, the vehicle Army Staff Sgt. Shilo Harris was traveling in was struck by an improvised explosive device, killing three soldiers, wounding the driver, and leaving Staff Sgt. Harris with third-degree burns on 35% of his body. Due to the severity of his burns, Staff Sgt. Harris lost his ears, tip of his nose, three fingers, and he sustained fractures to his left collarbone and C-7 vertebrae.
A movie is still in the process of being made about Shilo’s experience. Hopefully, the full length film will be ready by the end of this year, which this year is the 20th memorial of 9-11-2001, the U.S, Twin Towers was attacked. You can watch the trailer or for a small fee watch the short movie (movie concept) here.
People can order a signed copy of the book, Steel Will, from shilo’s website at shiloharris.com or BoundlessSpiritInternational.com.
