Just as the Bombers looked like they were making another charge with back-to-back goals from Cox and Stringer cutting the margin to 16 points, Martin lands a devastating counterpunch to put the Tigers back out to a comfortable 22-point lead with 27 seconds left in the third term.

In some good news for Essendon, it doesn’t sound like McGrath has injured his ACL, but unfortunately it’s likely it’s a PCL injury.

Richmond are now leading the disposals 289-276, tackles 34-30, marks 88-77, contested possessions 101-90, free kicks 11-6, hitouts 23-19 and scoring shots 20-18.

Essendon are on top in clearances 26-20 and inside 50s 44-37, but have only managed eight goals from 44 entries (18 per cent) compared to Richmond’s 12 from 37 (32 per cent).
